Approved Training Organization (ATO)
Cappadocia University Approved Training Organization authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, provides hot air balloon pilot and flight instructor trainings.
Within the body of Approved Training Organization, candidates who wish to obtain a Light Aircraft Pilot License LAPL (B) and Balloon Pilot License (BPL) are trained at international standards to be able to fly safely under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). In addition, within the framework of FI (B) trainings, flight instructor candidates are provided with the skills to update the technical knowledge level, to ensure that they reach the required level for teaching ground and air movements, to raise the flight standards, and to provide basic teaching methods.
Light Aircraft Pilot License Course - LAPL (B)
The privilege of a pilot with LAPL (B) is to fly as a pilot in command (PIC) in hot air balloons or hot-air aircraft carriers with a maximum dome capacity of 3,400 m3, by carrying a maximum of 3 passengers on the aircraft, provided that never no more than 4 people will be present in the aircraft.
Requirements for Starting Light Aircraft Pilot License LAPL (B) Course
Age: The candidate applying for the LAPL (B) course must be at least 16 years old.
Education Level: It is assumed that LAPL (B) candidates, who apply to fly as pilot in command (PIC) in non-commercial operations without generating any income, have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics, Physics etc. to understand the theoretical course content, and there is no diploma requirement.
Health Requirements: Having a valid 1stor 2nd class health certificate issued by the aviation medical centers authorized by DGCA or DGCA itself and not having any restrictions in the health certificate regarding flying as a pilot in command in a single pilot certificated plane.
Additional Requirements Set by DGCA: Pilot candidates must comply with the criminal record and security regulations set out in Article 16 of the SHY-1 Pilot License Regulation.
Candidates who apply for BPL and who already have a LAPL (B) are fully credited for their BPL requirements. In this context, in our Approved Training Organization, a common curriculum is applied in LAPL (B) and BPL courses in Theoretical Information Training and Flight Training.
Balloon Pilot License Course - (BPL)
The privilege of a pilot with BPL is to fly as a pilot in command (PIC) in balloons. Pilots with BPL can fly only in non-commercial operations without generating any income until they meet the following requirements:
a) To be over 18;
b) To complete 50 hours of flight time and 50 departures and landings as the pilot in command of the balloon;
c) To be successful in proficiency control under the supervision of a control pilot in a balloon of the relevant class.
Requirements for Starting Balloon Pilot License Course - (BPL)
Age: The candidate applying for the BPL course must be at least 16 years old.
Education Level: It is assumed that BPL candidates, who apply to fly as pilot in command (PIC) in non-commercial operations without generating any income, have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics, Physics etc. to understand the theoretical course content. According to SHY-1 Pilot License Regulation, the candidates who will act as pilot in command (PIC) in commercial air transport must be at least high school or equivalent graduate.
Health Requirements: Having a valid 1stor 2nd class health certificate issued by the aviation medical centers authorized by DGCA or DGCA itself and not having any restrictions in the health certificate regarding flying as a pilot in command in a single pilot certificated plane.

LAPL (B) and BPL Theoretical Knowledge Training Curriculum
LAPL (B) and BPL theoretical knowledge training is 60 hours and it is compulsory to attend all lessons. A make-up program is applied for the unattended lessons. The make-up program is prepared by the Education Manager considering the suitability of the instructor of the course and the candidate.
